While we are still here in this world and we balance such that we know how to have a good time in a healthy way and fun times creating memories, the “WHY?” question about the pursuit of purpose and destiny always comes up when am inviting somebody to respond to the gospel in the market place
We are here to serve the Lord, to work for Him with our talents then we meet Him and give an account of what we did while we were on earth
[Matt 25:15 To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and then he went on his journey.]
Jesus was teaching us about our talents and the principle for the distribution of talents is that:
โHe gave to each according to his own abilityโ
God distributes to each believer a maximum number of talents that his/her own ability will permit him to use effectively
Notice in verse 25 the first two servants achieved an increase of 100% and the Lord assessed the faithfulness of these servants by their “percentage increase” not by their “net gain”
Here’s how I break it down when inviting people to respond to the gospel at work:
The servant who gained 5 talents was not considered more faithful than the servant who gained only two talents (although the net gain in talents was greater)
Each servant was considered equally faithful because each achieved the same proportionate increase = 100% that is why their commendation was the same
Verse 21
โWell done good and faithful servant, you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things, enter into the joy of your Lordโ
Verse 23
His master said to him, โWell done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little, I will put you in charge of many things; share in the joy of your master.โ
The third servant hid the one talent he had received and later brought it back to his Lord exactly in the same condition in which he had received it
Verse 26 โBut his lord answered and said to him, โYou wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.โ
WHY should a child of God be focused on utilizing the talents that God gave them?
Because this is our opportunity to prove that we can be trusted with more when we enter in the joy of the Lord in eternity to rule with Christ in His government [Rev 20:6]
Failing to to use my gifts and talents is considered “wicked” by God and thats in harmony with James 4:17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them
And Malachi 3:18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
The day is coming when each of us will stand at the judgment seat of Christ
Our service and how we used our talents will be judged by Him who called us
I encourage those who serve Jesus out here, there is a prize giving day coming up beloved, I know its hard sometimes, I too have been there, but this world is our opportunity to prepare for eternity
you will be rewarded in eternity, even here on earth we get blessed but in eternity there will be rewards that everyone will see you receiving from the Creator of the universe and we will applaud you for enduring even suffering
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns
1 Cor 3:12 But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
13each oneโs work will be clearly shown [for what it is]; for the day [of judgment] will disclose it, because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality and worth of each personโs work.
14If any personโs work which he has built [on this foundation, that is, any outcome of his effort] remains [and survives this test], he will receive a reward.
15But if any personโs work is burned up [by the test], he will suffer the loss [of his reward]; yet he himself will be saved, but only as [one who has barely escaped] through fire.
Our Lord Jesus has eyes that have a flame of fire that will pierce through/test all the work we did on earth and only that which was done with the right motives aligned to His purpose, will and plan will be rewarded
Phil 2:3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility, regard others as more important than yourselves
I too will join us all praying HolySpirit search my heart, I commit every plan and purpose that You have revealed to me, I humble myself, align all my motives to your will and glorify Jesus and please the Father with my life all the days of my life AMEN
[Matt 25:15 To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and then he went on his journey.]
