Our generation is in a warfare for love and, the holy Scriptures have the answers:
Our Lord Jesus spoke of these times in [Matt 24:12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.]
The sin in our generation is so normalized until the fear of God and conviction is almost a rarity these days
I desire to see many souls come to the saving knowledge of Christ and my motivation for that is love, for God so loved the world
And when we come to that knowledge we experience the love of God
That love amongst us differentiates us, we become salt that preserves the world from judgements of God, we become lights that radiate Christ in a dark world and people know this because?
John 13:35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
In the market place when you encounter another child of God, a believer, a disciple of Christ demonstrate the genuine love of God to them
WHY? because thats a type of evangelism
Am not saying that we can’t love the people of the world, am just saying that me as esther I demonstrate that love to the body of Christ in the midst of the people of the world too
We are in a battle with a disarmed satan, he has no weapons to wield against us, we are administering the victory that has already been won at calvary
If children of God apply the principles of the Word walking in obedience then the warfare that sometimes we are in will dissipate
When we experience the love of God, people can experience it around and from us
Examples:
A colleague who has experienced the love of God does not walk in envy, jealousy and slander others in corridors of power
A single person who has experienced the love of God will not treat another single person like an option, deferring their hope to make their heart sick for years
thats why marrying a non beliver is counter productive because they are incapable of expressing the love of God to us because they have not experienced and responded to His love in the gospel
WHY?
Love provokes love, if love is not being experienced then it’s not been expressed
Biblical perspective…
1 John 4:19 “We love because He [that is God] first loved us.”
Experientially it means that it takes God’s love to release our love and until we have experienced the love of God, we cannot release the SAME kind of love in our life
Science proves that a child cannot really express love until it has received love through the love of a parent
God’s kind of love only comes from experiencing it from Him, we love because He demonstrated His love to us while we were yet sinners when He gave us Jesus, then our response to that love causes us to experience His love that we can turn around and offer to others. That kind of love is the powerful agape love
1 John 4:7,8
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
Notice that it takes a decision ‘Let us love one another’ It’s not entirely a matter of emotion, but it’s a matter of decision
Love comes from God, but it takes our decision to release it
“…everyone who loves with this kind of agape love has been born of God and knows God”
How can we be so sure about that
Because there is no other source of this agape love
Everybody who manifests it has already experienced it
“We love because He first loved us.”
“Whoever does not love in this way does not know God, because God is love”
1 Pet 1:22,23
“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”
Notice the result of obeying the truth, not just hearing, but obeying the truth of God’s word is a sincere love for others
And Peter says, ‘Not just love one another, but love one another deeply.’
And it depends partly on our decision to do it. And then he explains why we are able to do this because we have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God
When the seed of God takes root in our hearts and brings forth a new birth, out of that seed and in that new birth comes the love of God because the seed of God’s word contains the very nature of God
And the nature of God is love
So out of being born again we experience a supernatural kind of love, the agape love which can only come from God
The agape love that comes from the seed of God’s Word must be further nurtured and enforced by the Spirit of God
Col 1:7, 8
“You learned it [you learned the love of God] from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, and who also told us of your love in the Spirit [capital S, the Holy Spirit].”
So the love that these Colossian Christians had begun to manifest as a result of hearing and receiving the Word of God, was a love in the Spirit.
The Word and the Spirit working together in them produced this supernatural love
And in harmony with Romans 5:5
“And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”
God’s love is poured out with no restriction, no restraint
As much as we will yield to, we can have. God pours out His love in its fullness, in its entirety, in our hearts by the Holy Spirit
May we be different in this world, may we respond to God’s love and make a decision to demonstrate His love to our families, and friends always, a love so pure, genuine and powerful like the Colossian Christians
In a social media world, love is infact associated with a “click” or emoji, and that is a type of confusion in this generation
Here is biblical love:
1 Cor 13:4 -8
Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.
5It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured.
6It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].
7Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].
8Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]
The good news is, we don’t depend on ourselves to love other believers, we are helped by the Holyghost, Romans 5:5, HE sheds the love of God in our hearts, all we do is stir it up and let it show in our actions to the body of Christ around the world
AMEN!
John 13:35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
